Beverly Jean Anderson (Bev) 1957 – 2023
Bev was taken far too soon from us on June 23rd. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, and counselor who had an impact on many people. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 50 years, Ron, her children Stacy (Terry), Travis (Rachel), and David (Kellie), and grandchildren Morgan, James, Adam and Ira. She was loved by her brothers Gary (Joanne), Roger (Rita), Randy (Dawn) and her sister, Bronwynn.
Bev was an active soul and would light up a room with her infectious laugh and smile. She was always excited to share her passions with others and enjoyed life to the fullest. She exemplified the saying “there are no strangers, only friends she hadn’t made yet”.
She was an artist who loved bright colors. When she wasn’t tending to her flowers or spending time reading, she was a renowned quilter as a longtime member of the Silk City Quilters, the Needlers, and the Fabric Friends Quilt Camp. Biennially, Bev created the Raffle Quilt for the Lowell Arts Council. Her most recent projects included assisting with the organizing, sewing and donating of 600 quilts for Ukrainian Refugee Children. She also enlisted the help of fellow quilters to award Quilts of Valor to military veterans on Beaver Island. She used to say that quilters were some of the best, generous, kindest, ladies and she was always looking for another person to convert into a quilter.
In addition, Bev found it important to find the time to support and serve the Franciscan Life Process Center. She served people of all ages and walks of society and through her counseling both professionally and personally.
Bev and Ron were introduced to Beaver Island some 35 years ago and quickly fell in love with the place. She enthusiastically invited anyone and everyone to come visit the island and enjoy what it had to offer. There was always a chair ready by the campfire for anyone who wanted to join them under the stars and they created a lot of good memories there.
Words fail to capture the pain and sorrow we feel with her passing. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
